Logo and Branding Identity

Secret Cat Candles

One of my passions outside of graphic design is candle making! I have been making candles for about 4 years and enjoy the therapeutic process. Because I have spent so many years perfecting my craft, I felt ready to share my creations with the world and become a business. Below is the logo and branding identity that I had created for my brand.

Logo

The whole inspiration for this business is a speakeasy/vintage-themed candle business. I had a dream where I owned a speakeasy-themed cat cafe, and I have a cat named Secret. This birthed the idea of a speakeasy-themed candle business. The logo is inspired by a pose I have seen my cat do with a dramatic silhouette with a flame at the tail. The flame is calm to read the idea that the candles are therapeutic.

3D Background Design

For the Speakeasy Collection, I wanted to make a background for my candles that would create the best atmosphere, but I don’t have a bar I can go to, and if I did, nothing would have the 1920s look/feel that I can use. I have been wanting to flex my skills in 3D design and make a set. All the assets found on Thingiverse and they were in Creative Commons.

Package Design

The Speakeasy Collection has a unique set of packaging that I wanted to tell a bit of a story in each candle. Woman in Rouge and Suit & Smoke, I wanted to create a couple that would look great together. Woman in Rouge is inspired off of a Flapper with the dress of the age and the name design was based off the the make-up packaging of that time. I thought of this character as a woman that would visit a speakeasy and be the woman people loved to see at the bar.

Suit and Smoke has a mobsters outfit on similar to the gangs that were running speakeasies back in the day, the name design is inspired by tobacco advertisements and packaging of the time. This is another goer to the speakeasy I was thinking and he would frequent the cigar lounge in the bar.

Soothing Jazz is another step of the storytelling atmosphere where you will find a gentleman going into a door with a guitar case. This musician is going down into the speakeasy in a back alley. The name design is inspired by Luis Armstrong’s advertisements.

Blind Tiger is another name of a speakeasy, and the last and final chapter of the storytelling of this collection. You finally made it into the bar and looking for your desired drink in the prohibition period. The name design is inspired by old neon signs and drink or signs for bars and drinks.
